Week 10: Type and Page
This week, it was about the more simple things within the design world. What you're reading right now for example..typeface!
The days of font and type are upon us and boy do I know too much about it..
I don't even want to fathom how many different fonts, typefaces, and kerning adjusting that I've done and looked through over the years. It has to be in the hundreds, if not thousands, at this point. I still remember being 13 years old downloading the most futuristic font I could imagine and making banners for my friends, those we're the days.
Now I'm a simpler man. With Inter being my favorite font to date. It pairs well with just about anything, kind of like salt to any food imaginable. I use it more often than I'd like to admit..
Lecture
This week's lecture brought type to life.. with a variety and multitude of fonts, descriptions, and depth into what makes type in general.
I'm going to go ahead and take this as a sign in the future to experiment with my type more rather than just leaving it bland on the canvas or page.. What I mean by that is within that 'Blur' text image in the lecture.. that's an effect I want to nail on a work of art in the future. Either that or ink bleed. I'll have to wait and see.
Inject Y2K fonts straight into my veins, by the way!
Research Task
Speaking of tasks, this week's research task was:
Draw up a list of individual creatives that work in or close to your local area (these people may be based in your immediate vicinity or could be located in a city nearby)
There is only one creative I work with, and it is actually very close in area, at least in term of direct similar freelance sports fields. That would be Eyol.
Briefly outline what these creatives do and why you like their work. If possible, make note of their contact details, website and social media.
They're my good friend and work at 41 Soccer Magazine with me. I linked his instagram page up above. His work is absolutely stellar! He even has worked recently for the World Cup as a photographer.. talk about a bucket list item!
